Artificial intelligence, or AI, has moved from science fiction into the daily lives of students and teachers. However, experts warn that AI should not replace human thinking. A chatbot is capable of producing a perfect essay in seconds, yet a student who copies it learns nothing. Another worry is privacy: when a company stores facial recognition data, nobody knows exactly who can see it. For this reason, many schools are getting parents to sign forms before their children use new apps. Experts also point out that AI systems are trained on data created by people, so they can repeat human mistakes. Because of this, teachers must check the answers that machines give and teach students to question them. The most successful classes combine technology and human guidance: students use the tools to explore, and teachers help them to judge. In the coming years, the evolution of AI will probably bring more powerful tools, and students will need new skills to use them wisely.
