Hi Anna! I am an exchange student in Singapore this year, and I think of you. My new school uses English as an official language every day. At first the lessons were very fast, and the words were hard for me. Then a classmate who is bilingual helped me with the hard words in my book and with my homework. She also showed me how to look up new words in an online app. Her friends helped me pick up new words quickly, too. In class we learned about varieties of English around the world, like British and American English. In Singapore, English has some borrowed words from other languages. Last week our teacher wanted us to translate the Malay signs in the school hall into English. This work helped my vocabulary, and now class is easier. I am not fluent, but I practise speaking every evening. Please write soon about your English class and your friends. I wish we could exchange voice messages next weekend, if you have time.
