This term, our school introduced blended learning, which combines online lessons with traditional face-to-face classes. At first I was worried because I am a student who easily loses focus when a screen is in front of me. However, my teacher, who has taught English for fifteen years, designed a schedule that balances both methods. On Mondays and Wednesdays we meet in the classroom, where we practise speaking and do teamwork activities. On the other days, we study at home using a digital platform that gives immediate feedback on our homework. One tool that I especially like is a voice recorder app, which lets me listen to my pronunciation. Online learning has some disadvantages, though; a notification from a friend whose message seems urgent can easily become a distraction. To avoid this problem, I use a flow chart that shows my tasks and strategies for each study session. My classmate Hana, whose house has no high-speed internet, studies at the school library after lessons. Our teacher says that students need real-world tasks to understand how to use English outside the classroom. In my opinion, the best thing about this model is that it allows us to control our own pace. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more independently.
